| Giolou is a village in the district of Paphos, located
on the side of a valley 360 metres above sea level. The mountains
on both sides are visible from all parts, and from many points the
sea at Polis can be seen on a clear day. One welcome daily visitor
in the summer is a refreshing northerly breeze, and the average humidity
is considerably lower than that in Paphos. There are no kiosks in
Giolou but the three mini markets sell basic commodities and are open
from early in the morning until quite late in the evening, depending
on the season. There are two larger supermarkets at Skoulli, 7km away.
There are four coffee shops and two restaurants in the village. The
population is about 800, including some 20 expatriate households.
Giolou lies on the main B7 road, 18km from Paphos and 13km from Polis. |
